Port Jefferson Country Club, a public facility in Port Jefferson, N.Y., offers tennis fans the opportunity to learn to play or improve their game on attractive new courts.

Port Jefferson features eight lighted Har-Tru courts, which are “easy on the body,” according to Joe Arias, director of tennis and head professional. It is the only country club in the area that is lighted after dark for day or evening play.

Joe Arias, a USPTA Professional, is in charge of the tennis facilities, operations and program management. He has been at Port Jefferson for seven years and previously was an independent tennis professional.

PJCC's tennis courts are located on the north shore of Long Island, offering breathtaking views of Long Island Sound and cool summertime breezes. Guests are invited to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Lombardi’s on the Sound, located on the premises.

Other facilities at Port Jefferson Country Club include a pro shop with a retail affiliation and nice new locker rooms.

Membership is open to community residents and nonresidents alike. The tennis season runs from April 15 through Oct. 15.

Programs include adult and junior private and group lessons, member clinics, mini tennis camps, tennis socials, ladders for all levels, Challenge Court, family functions, member-guest days, Friday night tennis parties, interclub and intraclub teams, mixers open to everyone, and junior membership and activities. The facilities also are available for fund-raising events.
